“Dear PoPville,
Gigi is an illustrator and Manga comic creator. Her piece (included above) uses her signature comic-book style paired with nine haikus to tell the story of the creation of nuclear weapons and the devastation they can cause–with the goal of inspiring hope and agency among viewers by showing their power to effect change.
August 6 and August 9 mark the anniversaries of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and Gigi’s piece is a way to honor those anniversaries as part of a global campaign that happens each August to demand a future free of nuclear weapons.”

“Dear PoPville,
Wondering if we can find out any information on how the community can help, if it can be cleaned up or repainted, and if there would be a GoFundMe or the like to help with restoring it? Some places are fine to graffiti up, but over an artwork mural like this is definitely not appropriate.”
Ed. Note: The mural has been in this condition since July. At that time the Woodley Park Main Street wrote: Read More
