The Craigslist ad says:

“Very comfortable one-bedroom apartment in the heart of Adams Morgan. Separate living and dining areas, central air conditioning, washer and dryer in unit, private balcony with city views and a roof deck in the building.”

1801_Calvert_NW_4

Does $1695 sound reasonable for this 1 bedroom with balcony?

Ed. Note: there is also a $35 application fee. Yesterday some folks thought that was an indication of fraud. I believe many apartments have a legit $35 fee. Of course you always have to be cautious with Craigslist.

“SPACIOUS STUDIO APARTMENTS IN THE HEART OF THE CITY!”

Does $1095 sound reasonable for a studio at this location? In comparison I’d like to show one more studio that I found.

Wed. Afternoon Rental Option

This apartment is located at 215 C Street, SE:

The Craigslist ad says:

“We invite you to discover 215 C Street Apartment Homes, a hidden gem in the heart of Washington DC’s Capitol Hill. We are conveniently located two blocks from the South Capitol Metro and one block from Pennsylvania Avenue with its shopping, dining, and entertainment. Easy walking distance to The House and Senate Office Buildings,The Library of Congress, The Supreme Court, and The Capitol and just TWO blocks from Capitol South Metro station.”

Since I did a bunch of walking around the Hill I thought I’d check a rental option. I was intrigued by this one because of the 2 months free rent plus a $1000 visa gift card. I hadn’t seen a perk like that before. So does $1420 sound reasonable for an efficiency at this location (plus perks)?

The Craigslist ad has expired but a reader is still curious as to whether you think it’s a good deal. They write:

“It’s the lower level of a Victorian that sits on the corner of NY Ave. and N St. NW. I went to see it and the space is really nice, hardwood floors, has 14 windows and an outdoor space in the back, new washer dryer, updated bathroom, etc. I’ve been looking for awhile and this is pretty much perfect except it’s on NY Ave which is an enormously busy street, and it’s a lower level although it does get tons of light. I’m familiar with the neighborhood already and would only be moving a few blocks south of the place I’m currently staying. I’d love to get your readers input as to whether $1150 is too much to pay for a 1 bedroom in this location.”

I think $1150 sounds legit for a proper one bedroom with all those windows. What do you guys think?
