House of Philly Closed for Renovations

House of Philly is located at 2311 Calvert Street, NW in Woodley Park. I don’t think we’ve ever judged this place before. I think back in the day I once got a slice of pizza here… Anyone ever try the Philly cheesesteaks here? Are you glad to see it being renovated or would you prefer a new spot all together open up.

Incidentally, The old crepe spot, Cafe de Paris, which closed last March is still for lease located right above the House of Philly.

Murphy’s is located at 2609 24th St NW. When I lived in Woodley Park this used to be one of my favorite spots. Recently I noticed lots of folks there during the day. So a couple of questions – is the food any good? Second, with Nanny O’Brien’s (in Cleveland Park) under new ownership, is Murphy’s the best Irish bar left in the city?

iPOH Asian Cuisine is located at 2625 Connecticut Ave. NW on the 2nd floor. The place looks pretty nice, you can see some photos here. This place is relatively new as I used to go to a take out Chinese place here back in the day. You can see their menu here. Anyone have a chance to check them out yet?

Petits Plats is located at 2653 Connecticut Ave, NW in Woodley Park. I’ve heard that the restaurant is quite good. You can see the full menu here. But I was also intrigued by the “Pizze” sign. Has anyone tried the to go Pizze? You can see the to go menu here. Any fans out there?

Lebanese Taverna is located at 2641 Connecticut Ave. in Woodley Park. I’ve never heard so many contradictory things about a restaurant in DC before. Some folks tell me they love it and some folks tell me it is overrated. So let’s settle it once and for all – thumbs up or down? But if there are fans out there, do you recommend a particular dish? After seeing this spot on Calvert Street in Woodley Park back in September, I asked where was the best spot to get crepes in the city? Alas, I guess folks weren’t ordering enough crepes here. Or this spot at 2311 Calvert Street might be cursed as it seems to change businesses every 6 months to a year since the video store went out of business. Maybe it should become a wine bar…
